She was right to speak out but it has completely over shadowed the movie which is sad because the cast was excellent. I wish she waited until after awards season or something to bring this up

yeah, shes annoyed that her talking about industry inequity for her has been the only coverage this movie has got and prob feels like her speaking up may have hindered award noms. and how horrible a feeling that would be - feeling like her movie is being punished for daring to speak up about inequality.

I see where she's coming from because I don't think mainstream media is very good at covering works about Black life that don't center white people. I wonder if any major outlet will do a deep dive into how common these issues are for Black talent/films and why the studios mistreated the cast

I still haven't seen this. I listened to the soundtrack and they cut a LOT of songs from the stage musical, that made me lose any interest I had. Plus, I find the casting very suspect.
