I’m all for these white women giving attention to an important topic, but it would’ve been nice if anyone else started this rather than Frances Fisher and - especially - Marianne Williamson. I don’t wanna buy anything those two are selling.
lol this definitely screams redemption tour ("see! we don't only care about other white women!") but hey if it shines a light on a deserving performance that would have gone unnoticed otherwise...
Aunjanue was great but this movie... oof. It's already about American systemic racism, the Holocaust, AND the caste system in India and then Ava added a very heavy grief plot on top. It was too much. It was well made, but I really think it should have been a documentary, and if she wanted to make a movie about grief that could have been a separate narrative piece.
That makes sense. The movie did stick with me, so something about it worked, but yeah it was just heavy on top of heavy. But def would not be mad if she got a nom!

Aujanue should absolutely be credited for holding it all together and I wouldn’t be upset if she snuck in with a nom.
