I forgot what he did, but the whole story is a fascinating study on someone emptying their own bag because they can't keep their mouth shut. I'll definitely watch!

He spilled their secrets and talked shit about them in La Côte Basque. They were understandably upset that he betrayed their trust and portrayed them so negatively.

I read an article where it said he essentially laid the ground work for tabloids as we know it because he pulled back the curtain on high society

I think they were going for the long swan neck look for all of them but imo it looks ridiculous here and would have probably looked better without it. 😂

Some related books for anyone who wants to read more about this season’s subject matter. I haven’t read all of these so I can’t definitively say which ones are good so feel free to chime in if you’ve read any of these (or if there are other books you recommend).

the source of all the trouble:
La Côte Basque by Truman Capote (you can read it here
Answered Prayers by Truman Capote

the non-fiction book that the series is based on:
Capote’s Women by Laurence Leamer

fictionalized version of what happened:
The Swans of Fifth Avenue by Melanie Benjamin

fictionalized account of Truman and Lee’s friendship
Such Good Friends by Stephen Greco

non-fiction about Ann Woodward
Deliberate Cruelty by Roseanne Montillo

I’m about 160 pages into Capote’s Women and we’re still being introduced to the women and learning about their backstories. It’s not boring per se since they all led interesting, yet empty, lives, but I just want everyone to know each other already so we can get things started.

I read the non-fiction book by Leamer a few months ago; I thought it was pretty good, once everyone was introduced (I wasn't super-familiar with many of the women).
