I think I read the wiki of this guy a while back. WHEW!

Is there a need to understand his motivations? Is it that deep? He wanted to be a special super scientist in the eyes of the world and was willing to cause irreparable harm and death to achieve that accolade.

These types of "doctors" are evil.

She wasn't really miscast but they really sanctified the character and frankly I thought Mandy did the best she could with the material. I didn't get a very good impression of Benita from the netflix doc

Yeah, there's two storylines playing out. The medical side and then the love story side with Moore. It doesn't work.
Every time the story switches from the doctors to Moore, it's so glaringly obvious how weak that arc is. It's hard to even feel sorry for her character.
