You should do it! I found it really fun. I was terrible at it but I still really enjoyed the experience.

Good luck! I hope you can find a class nearby. Getting feedback really helps a lot, especially in the beginning. I took a class at a local place but they didn't have an actual instructor. They had a pottery wheel and an instructional video that they turned on. When I couldn't make the shape I wanted, I asked one of the employees what I was doing wrong and her suggestion was to watch the video again.

Despite that, I really did enjoy working with clay. I also realized that if I ever need to self soothe, all I need is a lump of clay, a cheap pottery wheel, and some trimming tools. Using the various tools to smoothly scrape clay away was surprisingly relaxing.
