Honestly, this young woman's mother did need to die and she did deserve it. She was going to kill this girl.

Yeah, maybe I'm just a bad person but I'm not here for any of the ~life is sacred~ bullshit. The world would definitely be a better place - and many innocent lives would be spared of trauma and pain - if some people indeed were dead.

The issue comes that there will always be flaws in determining who "deserves" to die. So you either have to accept innocent/ not worthy to die people dying, or that innocent people staying alive is worth bad people living too.

I don't condone murder, in most cases. And I'm fully against the death penalty but I am also truly ambivalent about abusers reaping what they've sown all at once. I'll support a victim killing their abuser 100 times out of 100.

In this specific case I genuinely can see no other way Gypsy would ever be free.

Wait her mom was keeping her prisoner, she got herself away from that abuser and the solution was to put her in prison again? Fuck that

Basically, yes.

Her mom was keeping her prisoner and abusing her, forcing her to have medical procedures done that she did not need. Gypsy didn't see a way out other than killing her mother. Gypsy should not have been sentenced to any prison time. It was self-defense, imo.

You know what's so sad? She said she felt more free in prison than she ever did with her mom.

The system failed her. Shouldn’t have been sentenced. Her mother was a monster.

I hope she does well in life and has a good support system. I’d hate to see her fall victim to another scammer/abuser.

I also don’t think the world is a worse place without her mother in it and I will leave it at that.

I think most of us agree she did deserve it but this is such a mature, empathetic thing to say. It's making me even sadder to think about where she could be today if she had an ok childhood.
