Taraji P. Henson says she's still not being paid fairly in Hollywood: "I’m just supposed to smile and grin and bear it. Enough is enough!"

Pretty much every year or so there’s stories like this. I follow Loni Love where I saw the video on IG. And she was mentioning how even promoting films eats up the money cause you honestly gotta look good even you don’t have much ( ... )

Viola, Monique, Robin Thede, Keke and now Taraji. You hear this all the time and it’s so frustrating. If the strikes showed us anything, it’s that not everyone in Hollywood is rolling in cash regardless of their resume. I remember being a little shocked hearing Octavia Spencer talk about being low balled and how Jessica Chastain advocated for her to be paid, we need more of that solidarity. How is it still like this for WOC in the industry?

Damn, I feel bad for her. She's been around for a long time, is super talented and deserves to be paid accordingly.

I really hope she got paid well for The Color Purple though it doesn't sound like she did.
I'm hearing good things about the film, and she's definitely the biggest name in the cast.

As an older and black actress I feel for her. I can’t imagine seeing these new, young actresses out the gate getting brand partnerships and looks that help offset the lack of pay equity in roles.

And it’s not easy to just start a production company. To get the financial backing to develop and go after screenplays, especially with an eye to black stories, who’s offering up money for that to black actresses? Where are the financiers looking to back them?

Taraji’s a fucking legend. And they invite her to every awards circuit (which she deserves) so I can absolutely understand being around your peers constantly knowing you’re getting less than them due to systemic bullshit.

It's so upsetting to hear that someone who has been in the industry so long and who is clearly so talented still isn't getting paid what she's worth. And if that's what it's like for her, imagine how much lesser known WOC are being paid. In contrast, you see the studios throwing money at any tall white unattractive actor who comes along.
