The more I think about it, the less I liked the last episode, mainly because the storytelling / plot fell so short of what it could have been, considering the potential of the Toymaker? Like, what was that plot? And there were so many things that didn't make any sense, it hurts my brain lol I don't mind the bi-generation addition to the lore, all that stuff is totally fine with me, it's just that the storytelling itself felt... kinda undercooked? Here's to Ncuti charming everyone's pants off though. No pun intended.

Yeah, it felt really rushed. I kept having to remind myself during the catch scene that this is a children's show so it's not that crazy to lean into that but at the same time... to go from something as genuinely creepy as the last episode this makes the plot seem even more thin and childish. I've also never liked how this show uses Unit and Torchwood but that's an entirely separate topic.

I think these episodes, like so much of RTD's run, were flawed but had heart-and TBH I would take that over someone overly ambitious or preachy who also writes flat characters. It's sort of a "devil you know" situation but there were some moments I really loved, Ncuti is already absolutely magnetic onscreen and I can't wait to watch his season!

he's just so charming and fun and I love his voice

I really liked the specials with #2 being my fave. 1st was cheesy and a head scratcher, but very much on brand for dw. 3rd was good but after #2, the plot holes sen really obvious.

Love Ncuti already. Can't wait for more.
