i went to royaldish to see how they were reacting and apparently there is some political drama with this too--apparently this guy's dad is/was a member of one of spain's right wing parties and there's a retweet on jaime twitter criticizing spain's current prime minister (who is in spain's socialist workers party) and bemoaning how apparently letizia is the reason that felipe's father, the former king, went into exile, and not because JC's own mistress inadvertantly exposed him for taking kickbacks from the saudis

hopefully some spanish ontders have more context.
