you've got mail is such a comfort movie. i think meg ryan was really charming in it.

They were very interchangeable to me in these 90s rom coms but I do think Meg had a certain softness to her that made her a better fit for You’ve got Mail and Julia certain unapproachability that made her a better fit for Notting Hill where she played a famous actress

I think it's easier not to have regrets with a career like hers. If an actor never quite ends up making it, the regrets of passing on an iconic role would probably be eating them up.

re: meg ryan, justice for in the cut!!! i’ve never seen sleepless in seattle and only saw when harry met sally last year so maybe it wasn’t as much of a leap to see her in a role like that. most of the bad reaction seems so loaded. she was great in it.

there were times were her facial expressions reminded me of nicole kidman (who i think was supposed to be in it originally) and it would’ve been interesting had she been able to push into that territory/compete for those roles a little more.

IN THE CUT is so underrated and perhaps was ahead of its time imo!!! i could’ve totally seen Nicole Kidman in it but i think it was a great opportunity for Meg Ryan
