Worth noting that “widely considered to be the first black soap opera star” is meant as in “starring role”, as in she was one of the leads, not the first Black performer to appear on a daytime soap.
I’m so proud that once she left acting she became a public library librarian. Having just retired myself after 29 years and 7 months as a library worker makes me proud that she was one too.
