I'm disappointed this hasn't received any comments yet :(

If you're looking to give on World AIDS Day, the Black AIDS Institute does good work. Sheryl used to be on their board, if I remember correctly.

A few months ago, a friend and I were talking about how we as a society don't talk about living long-term with HIV and the long-term effects of taking the medication, especially if you started when ARVs first came out. I've seen one documentary about it from a Brazilian filmmaker. In my country of South Africa where my province has the worst infection rates in the world (last I checked years ago), the primary focus is on infection prevention of HIV and getting people on medication. No solid tackling of the social factors driving infection and affecting ability to get/stay on medication and live healthy. In my circle, we talk a lot about how people who are positive and on medication are told to eat healthy and exercise with little to no recognition of the fact that people literally can't afford to live that way. Poverty is common here and the economy keeps getting worse.
