Ewww, phone calls? I keep my phone on silent and if I DO notice someone calling, I let it go to voicemail. Unless it's my dad, because otherwise he will assume that I am DEAD. He does not know how to text, which is my preferred mode of communication.

My neighbour phoned me today after me repeatedly requesting that he text, because I spend my entire day on my phone and at the beck and call of people who want things instantly and so put all notifications except text on silent at 5pm.

Age has nothing to do with it; my 89 year old neighbour texts from her iPad. It’s because he wants to pontificate and badger me, because he’s a supercilious weasel.

I feel her. The only reason why I got a phone was because they got rid of payphones everywhere and one day I had to borrow someone's phone to call my partner while I was out, and that was a couple of years ago. ATT also decided to increase my landline costs by 50 dollars and didn't give advance notice so I was like fuck that.
