SM Entertainment has announced that RIIZE member Seunghan is taking an "indefinite hiatus" from the group.
The news comes after several incidents from the idol's pre-debut life surfaced via leaked videos and divided netizens, including
kissing an ex-girlfriend and smoking as a minor.
In a statement, the agency apologized "for [their lack of management of [their] artist, although the incidents involving him took place before his debut." Seunghan, 20, also apologized in a handwritten letter, writing in part:
"I know very well that my rash actions in the past have hurt so many people. I'll sincerely reflect on myself and strive harder to become a better person."
RIIZE, who made their first comeback in October with "Talk Saxy," will continue as a sextet for the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, accounts responsible for stirring controversy about the the 20 year old have posted apologies, likely due to SM's intention to pursue legal action.
as sm is starting to take serious legal actions, we now have 2 apology letters so far from accounts that defamed seunghan. i say don’t forgive and put these people behind bars! this is the reason why you should never believe something right away just because its written in…
