Due to being sick, Jennifer Lawrence was not on set when Jena Malone shot her iconic elevator entrance as Johanna Mason in ‘Catching Fire.’

Unpopular opinion I suppose but I absolutely hated Johanna's casting. I think Jena is a good actress but she's nowhere near what Johanna was meant to be.

I remember the Johanna of the books being like, FERAL. Jena didn’t come close to that for me.

Yeah, her voice in particular completely takes me out. Nothing about her embodies the fierceness and power Johanna commands. I'm forever bitter about this casting lol

I think she and Josh Hutcherson were huge miscasts.

It was a good scene and she played the role very well. But the word “iconic” has lost all meaning in modern day reporting

I’d be more surprised if they did film it at the same time. I’m pretty sure they filmed it at the Marriott Marquis and there’s no way they would have been able to fit all the equipment needed into one elevator with both actors. It’s impressive they managed to get all the equipment and one actor in there to begin with.

I was just thinking the same thing. Those elevators are pretty small for a film crew. Marquis is one of my faves back home. Just the architecture and vastness of open space.

I just listened to a movie podcast about catching fire and they mentioned that in that scene, she really stripped down while the elevator was still in use by guests of the hotel and in one take, when the door opened a guest got the whole scenery in front of him.
Kinda crazy to me that they didnt block the elevator during the time of filming. The movie had too much budget to need to do that guerilla style of filming.

I remember reading about that. Why didn't they block access? So weird.
