i don't ever relish a movie failing and that includes the marvels.

HOWEVER, i utterly reject the idea that the success of this movie would be a win in any way for feminism or antiracism. disney using surface level representation politics to allow themselves a progressive image is NOT in any way a real or meaningful victory.

A favorite and accurate term I learned from RLM: "Passive Progressive."

Marvel's biggest problem was over-saturating their own market. Superhero movies used to be a yearly event, or something that'd happen every other year.

Just this year we've had Ant-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Loki season 2, Secret Invasion and The Marvels. Last year we had Moon Knight, Ms Marvel, She-Hulk, Black Panther 2, Thor 4, and Doctor Strange 2. And half of those movies/shows are absolute dog shit lmfao.

Honestly the Iron Man to Avengers: Endgame pipeline was a one time event I think one of Marvel's mistake is trying to recreate the "magic" of it. This multi-verse phase is exhausting. Instead of trying to connect everything together, just let the characters exist in their own little world. Let the Fantastic Four just be a space-adventuring family. And I think the X-Men should straight up just be their own alternative universe cuz I really can't think of a satisfying way of introducing them into the mess that's the MCU.

absolutely this. i caught up on nearly everything before endgame but after that, adding in the shows and even more films has made it impossible to keep up. so i only go to the theatres for the projects i really like, which are just spider-man and black panther films.

100% this even the most hardcore marvel fans I know aren’t excited anymore

Honestly I only see excitement for X-Men and Fantastic Four and even then people are starting to have less faith in those projects with the recent string of critical flops the MCU has been having.

If #Disney has any Ace up their sleeves to spike up audiences interest, they better use it ASAP.
Last week’s chatter around the leak unfortunately didn’t boost #TheMarvels pre-sales at US #BoxOffice.
Quite the opposite, pre-sales are stuck.

the leak is that: [Spoiler (click to open)]kelsey grammer's beast shows up in the post-credit scene as if that was supposed to do anything to increase interest.
