That gif. Don Jon feels like such a fever dream. JGL really made a movie about a meathead having porn addiction

I never saw the movie but for some reason I remember the press tour and ScarJo and JGL talking about how important this movie/topic was lol.

I still love a romcom and need a (decent) revival! Give me that nice little escapism cos the Lifetime/Hallmark ones aren't hitting.

ONTD, which romcom gave you most unrealistic expectations?

Probably The Holiday cos they're all rich, can miraculously take time off work during December and 90% of British men don't look or act like Jude Law in that movie

ok word i wanna see some romcoms with middle class people where they just go to applebee's and work 9-5 desk jobs and come home and watch trash reality tv while the guy is like ugh again please no but the girl can't hear him bc she's laughing too loud at a comment she read on ontd using her phone

then they go to bed and talk about what they're gonna get at applebee's next weekend until they fall asleep

and how one day, if they're lucky, they'll go to olive garden instead <3

Rom coms can be unrealistic in relationships but so are ALL the superhero movies with men acting badly and getting rewarded for it with love. There definitely has to be a meeting in the middle where straight people just treat each other respectfully and actually listen to each other, by which I am talking BY AND LARGE to the straight men. I don't know how people attracted to straight men manage it because ALL of it just screams frustration in some way.

See also cop shows/movies and military shows/movies. Or the sarcastic rude dickwad who has some minor redeeming qualities that are somehow enough to make him lovable. ~He’s just hiding his secret pain. Go to therapy and learn healthy ways to cope and treat people better!

Network sitcoms also come to mind, especially those starring comedians. I'm sick of the schlubby guy married to his modern Stepford Wife that loves him despite his numerous flaws/red flags.
