How is that gonna work if you are traveling with your children or elderly? Is a 80 year old supposed to board on her own or is a 6 year old kid supposed to put up the suitcase on its own while it’s mother is still waiting outside to board for her middle seat? What if it’s one of those planes, that aren’t right by the gate and you have to take a bus? lol there are so many different scenarios, it doesn’t save shit.

If they booked under the same itinerary, then chances are the system will already flag them as traveling together and place them in the same boarding group. I get priority boarding with several airlines due to status/cards, and the people I book on my itinerary always get priority boarding with me.

If you did not book on the same itinerary - which definitely is not happening with the child, who would have booked as an unaccompanied minor if they didn't book with a parent to begin with - then airlines typically tell you that you should board separately or board with the later boarding group. Ane elderly person needing assistance, however, is always welcome to board early and with assistance.

In Europe people can board together if they bought the ticket together.
