Timothée Chalamet was inspired by Austin Butler’s performance in ‘ELVIS’ for his upcoming performance as Bob Dylan.

“I’ve basically been working with his entire Elvis team for my Dylan prep. I just saw the way he committed to it all, and realised I needed to step it up.”… pic.twitter.com/ABPF2fes0m

there's no way he's going to do him justice, especially if that Wonka trailer is anything to go by. curly dark hair does not a bob make.

I'm surprised this wasn't repeated with several actors. Can I remember something similar done with David Bowie?

I don't think there is?
I'm sure there will be at some point. And Bowie was so chameleonic, a movie about him would definitely benefit from casting several actors.

And half of Hollywood will be fighting to get cast on it for sure.

Only here for this:

Was Butler still talking like Elvis? I asked him.

“No, here’s the thing: he was already talking like Stellan Skarsgård.” That is, on day one of the first read-through, Butler had already dialled his way fully into the character, the heir to Skarsgård’s Baron Harkonnen

That whole “I can’t get rid of the accent” thing was so stupid.

Honestly? "... he was already talking like Stellan Skarsgård" This bit made me believe that he might've been telling the truth. LOL I can catch someone's accent without meaning to and that poor sod did that intentionally for months.

I was talking about the Elvis accent lol. When Austin Butler was still going around doing interviews sounding like Elvis way after the movie had been completed and he filmed Dune 2. Butler should sounded like Stellan Skarsgård in Dune pt 2.

Oh shit, my bad. I thought you meant like right after Elvis or something. After a while, the accent usually just goes away tbh. That was a bit of a gimmick on Austin's part, I agree with you.

I just can imagine him doing the MOST to sound like Bob Dylan. I can just imagine him. It'll be insufferable.
