Wanting to live in different countries (right?) makes this not so straightforward.

Where do the kids go to schools? What do we consider holidays because UK and USA have different ones?

I assume the kids will go with the person that kinda is more involved in their upbringing and thats usually the mother...so they will grow up in England and then fly to USA for.... Thanksgiving, Xmas, NYE....what else is a "holiday" in USA that they would come for?

Maybe summers, once the school year is finished. Spring/winter breaks?

My brain translated custody, one parents having the kids into a parent trap situation and was 🤨 the judge.

The vast majority of child custody is sorted through mediation or before it ever gets to courts. And men usually don't want the kids full time so they give them to the mom full time so they can start a family with the next woman.

Yep, it seems like most men would rather not have to deal with the day to day child raising duties, and that's without divorce.

My co-worker recently went through a child custody arrangement with her ex and when the mediator suggested a 5-2 days arrangement, dude flat out asked if he could see the kid only every 15 days (and not on weekends) bc he was "fine just visiting every now and then".

Most men don't actually want to raise children, they just want to be able to use the father label.

This makes me glad that the men in my life who have custody of their children actually give a damn. In one case the wife deliberately got pregnant so they could get back together during a separation, and when they finally split for good a few years later she was basically like "you can have her; I don't want her" about their daughter. It's usually the dad who is on some bullshit but the daughter really doesn't have a relationship with her mom to this day; kids know who care.
