RIP

I thought he did a good job taking over Dumbledore.

This.

I didn't care for PoA. To me it felt really disconnected from the first 2.

And then the David Yates movies were my least favorite of the bunch.

Now the series is just tainted. I do feel like the series is better suited for TV than a movie but too late now!

It's a hard series to adapt because the books grow up with the readers so the tone across the series is super inconsistent. Also JKR's writing style makes it hard, the charm of the books is in these little quirks and details that didn't translate to film

Thank you!! I like the series overall (own them all on DVD and whatnot) but honestly, to me, the only two that really captured the spirit of the books as I read them was the first two.

1, 2, and 4 are the ones I've rewatched the most. 2's pacing is a bit slow but as book purist, it's the most faithful adaptation.

It's rare I see someone else say they didn't care for POA. I didn't either. It was too much on the other end of the spectrum from Columbus. I didn't need sweeping shots of the Whomping Willow paired with zero backstory on who the Marauders were? Like no thanks. I can take the chihuahua-looking werewolf and the kids in jeans, but major plot holes for the sake of artistry, no

They spent more time on the goddamn night bus than the marauders! I’m forever bitter because it was my favorite book.

Yup. Sooo stupid

I'm also in that camp.

It was just such a stark difference from the first two movies and also the ones following it. Like Alfonso Cuaron had made an original movie with a similar premise it would have been fine but it didn't feel like HP at all so like what was the point?

Yep. When people say it's their fave I'm like um are we watching the same movie? lol

Yes! I'm always shocked to hear it even though so many people say it but to each their own. But as someone who was a huge HP fan at the time it premiered I've never liked it.

I saw the first two movies before I read the books so PoA was the first one I had seen post-read. For the longest time I gave it the benefit of the doubt for that reason but almost 20 years later, nope, it was just a shitty adaptation lol

It’s my favourite book and that’s why I dislike the movie so much because it didn’t hit the proper beats of the book!

I truly believe when people say this it's because they're conflating their love of the book with the movie. It's one of the weakest in the series, and that's saying a lot because goddamn were those movies weak lol

I don't have the same undying love for the book because I think Sirius is THE most overrated character but yeah IA lol

I didn’t like it either. I think it’s a terrible adaptation of the book.
