Figured this would be the outcome. My sense of family courts is that the preference is to not make any big changes until everything has gone through mediation or the courts. So once the divorce was filed, I suspected that things would kind of 'freeze' for the kids/living situation until new custody and living arrangements could be agreed upon and submitted to the court.
