he talked about going to her concert in kc this summer and wanting to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it but didn't get the opportunity to meet her. so it was some time after that. (the rumour is they met up twice in nyc before the season started, so, like 3-4 weeks ago).
he def knows that getting into anything with her makes him song material and he would probably love it (or come to hate it but just kinda shrug it off).

he said on his and his brother's podcast that he invited her to come to one of his games and obviously she took him up on that. and the assumption would be that he extended that invite in person.
