It breaks my heart to see that society always has the perpetrators back.

I think a huge problem with cases like this is the statute of limitations.

I remember watching Evan Rachel Wood's documentary and they fought so hard to try to get the statute of limitations in California extended to 10 years post assault (which they thought was a compromise) only to get it chopped down to 5 years in the final bill.

I read the reporting and the L.A. woman is particularly credible (texts, rape kit, telling friends contemporaneously) but unfortunately I think it's been too long.

That's insane. In Canada there is no statute of limitations on sexual assault period. Now the longer ago the assault took place, the harder it is to establish guilt beyond a reasonable doubt tbh. Allegations can be investigated, charges can be laid, and convictions have been secured though.

I don't think there is a statute of limitations on rape in the UK but I'm sure it is more difficult to try a case using 20 year old evidence.

I watched part of the special and I'm glad the identities of the survivors were hidden. The last thing they need is massive amounts of public pressure and threats from internet trolls.
I hope they are getting all the support they need.

I also hope this snowballs, and Brand gets the punishment he deserves.

Yeah after seeing how right wing conspiracy trolls harassed Sandy Hook parents to the point where families were moving house every year I would not want to be named either.

Literally, wtf. It boggles my mind how f-cking rotten people's brains are to think that parents of those little babes would lie.

i always think about this, and the parkland kids too. calling them crisis actors etc. these are people that have already been through an unbearable trauma, spoke up about it, and now have to worry for their lives because of these trolls. it's so disgusting. i made the biggest mistake ever of looking at twitter when dispatches was airing and the comments about brand's accusers were truly vile. the hoops these people will jump through to call women liars and hate us is truly horrific.

At this point we ought to be able to justifiably go back to pitchforks and public [redacted] for these men. Make them afraid.
