The disability activism community has a great motto that I think can apply to every single identity perfectly: nothing about us without us.

I wish that were automatically the case, but unfortunately even in orgs w/ good intentions, people with ego are usually in charge and ig not thinking that way, especially when they didn't suffer through that themselves (I typically see that it's a loved one, often deceased, that they are founding an org to honor). Even as a SA survivor myself, I'd like to think I would want many voices heard if I had that power, not just mine.

I finally read the details of what Danny Masterson did, and I felt so sickened I couldn't even finish the reports. I can even sympathise with feeling the need to defend someone you were close to even after a conviction - but definitely not when it comes to the sort of crimes that Masterson committed. He's a pure sociopath. I would have zero problems cutting off someone like that. Honestly, what were Ashton and Mila thinking?

It’s so insane to me because people have cut off spouses/parents/siblings/children who have committed heinous acts so the “they’re my friend” is no excuse, they co-signed all his bad acts by trying to help him avoid the full consequences of his actions

tbh I'm often surprised by how attached some people are bc I honestly have no problem cutting people off my life over mundane things, let alone serious ones. I'm a great person to be around, there's no way I'm wasting myself on shitty folks lol

Actors have such giant egos that I honestly believe they just assume people will just praise them regardless. I have my own ~problematic takes but I never share them with strangers, only in the safety of my snake lair (aka my friend group).

you'll notice he still stops short of actually, directly acknowledging that Danny Masterston is a convicted rapist, though. "yet another instance of victims being questioned" its subtle but its still speaking in generalities.

ITA, and It seems clear (to me at least) that neither he nor Mila believe the victims in his case and it’s made all the worse since they knew at least one of them! Absolute trash and I won’t ever watch anything either are in again
