Obviously this is bait, but a lot of monochromatic casting is often dismissed because it's portraying ____ historical setting and/or family members. I think that points to a bigger issue of diversity behind the scenes if only certain stories are being told.

I feel like people are coming for Mads when it’s the reporting asking a question about something he’s not in favour of, as he demonstrates when he further explains. Very odd and the question is out of place.

Again, I do think foreign films should be exempt from the rule as some markets are not as diverse. Especially if you are only factoring in minority groups and not diversity in other factors out the US market.

This was a STUPID question and I liked his pithy answer. The journalist's question clearly showed their ignorance. Sounds like the journalist said "GOTCHA, I saw no POC!" and thought they were doing something. The rules themselves have a lot of loopholes and Americans acting like the Academy did something here seems stupid to me too.

The rules.
The first is "on-screen representation, themes and narratives". Eligible films will have to meet one of the following:

-One lead or significant supporting actors from an under-represented ethnic/racial group
-30% of the ensemble are from under-represented groups (women/POC/LGBTQ+/disabled)
-Storyline/Theme focuses on the aforementioned underrepresented groups

The second is representation on the "creative leadership and project team", where one of the following must be met
