Tomato, Tomato! PR Firm has been manipuplating Rotten Tomatoes scores for years

A PR firm has been manipulating the Rotten Tomato scores of movies for at least five years by paying some “critics” directly. Truly depressing stuff here by @LaneBrown https://t.co/s0gwMJCfVy

Disney was doing it blatantly with Marvel.

Huh never thought about it but RT hasn’t been a real reliable measure of film grading for a few years now.

In the beginning it def had that pull on people but after you do see the silliness of “HOLDS A 100% FRESH ON ROTTEN TOMATOES” but only like 7-9 reviews lol.

It becomes a bit accurate-ish when it starts going down from 100 as more reviews come in.

Film twitter critics have overtaken RT’s place but even then some of these critics aren’t that reliable either cause most seen concern with riding a popular wave or whatever the majority feel about a movie and it’s awards potential.

the problem is that award pundits on twitter are posturing themselves as film critics when they aren't. like, just review the movie i don't need to know how many oscars you think it will win

I don’t mind the predictions game but you did hit the bullseye cause they do posture themselves as film critics when they’re more closer to influencers than legit film critics (and betting people lol 🎰👀)

it's so annoying like, as a person that enjoys listening to some of the awards podcasts and stuff Y'ALL ARE NOT CRITICS. and it becomes so evident when they obsessively push stuff that they like because they are in fact trying to influence other critic groups and things towards the end of the year

I saw that Ophelia movie a few years ago and it made think of those fanfics people would write “what if Ophelia was the main character and survived” because that’s exactly what it is.

The cinematography was nice in one particular scene but the plot was meh.

it was based on a book lol, where clearly someone had a bias for both ophelia and horatio to get out of hamlet's mess.

Mte. There was some potential there, but ultimately it was both boring and convoluted. But it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever seen
