I’m addition to Heath, Tom Cruise as Lestat. But they of course both nailed their respective roles

Nah Susie Figgis is still around, I was in a big agency around 2014 and she was still casting things (and was getting fired from things due ~reasons~). She was a terrible person to speak to and I had to talk to a lot of arseholes so that's saying something.

Is she still doing Hollywood castings?

Yeah looks like she's still going - Tomb Raider, Fast X, Bohemian Rhapsody - though when I was doing agency work it was more British stuff. Sadly she's booked and busy

Good for her then :) glad she is booking Hollywood casting jobs. Some of the articles I have read insinuated that she gave up after Harry Potter…but most likely baseless rumors.

Thanks for clearing it up ❤️

Yeah Tom had the gay rumor all throughout the 90s and I don't think this helped at all lol.

I'm guessing Tom was comfortable enough for it cause prior to that the only other movie of his that had some homoerotic subtext was Top Gun ironically. Cause in many Lestat is a total 180 for guy like Tom who had nothing but Hollywood A-lister heterosexual roles.

So yeah you're right that whoever the casting director was....they had the 3rd eye very open lol!

I remember when I rented the VHS of Interview, there was a little disclaimer video at the beginning of Anne talking about how she had her doubts about Tom Cruise but that he was truly truly amazing and she was wrong. I felt like "oh boy this must be bad if they're making her march out there and tell us it's good" and then proceeded to be blown away

while also not understanding why Anne didn't add at the end of the video "but Brad Pitt's wooden ass can choke"

I distinctly remember visiting a forum (don't remember which one, but I also remember visiting said forum when RDJ was cast for Tony Stark) the day Heath's casting was announced, and it was just utter chaos and meltdowns lol, so many DC fanboys unable to deal with this pretty boy who played a gay cowboy being their Joker. Would have loved to have visited that forum again after the film came out lol

Didn't Anne Rice take a whole page NYT ad out to apologize to Tom for objecting to his casting? lolol.

Not gonna lie, I was appalled at first when Sam Reid was announced (sheesh) with a pic of him all cute and pale on some red carpet.
Then I watch Lamb of God to have faith in that choice (i didn't know back then he was a complete Lestat nerd)... then IWTV AMC came out and well, the rest and Cruise is history!
