i have never been in a union but my dad was a bus driver and was very involved in his union (and eventually became president), which is how i first got interested in politics. thanks to the union he and my mom were able to buy a house in 1986 and raise 3 kids in an expensive california city. idk if that could ever be done today. IN THIS ECONOMY??? i also had great health insurance thanks to him. AND the union made sure he always got his birthday off!

I was a union member for twenty years and now I work for one. I have excellent healthcare (I’m a US citizen) and a defined benefit pension.

He’s not wrong.
