Someone asked ERC on Twitter ages ago; This isn't unprecedented to count special screenings (although I too think it's bs; it's how Dungeons and Dragons was #1; They counted the previews on March 19th in the opening weekend.)
Lol. I honestly don't care who wins the weekend - Barbie is clearly winning the whole damn year - but yeah, weeks of preview screenings should not count as opening weekend numbers. They basically did a platform release (like you would do for an indie) for Gran Turismo, and that's fine! They fully had several prime weekend showtimes at my local AMC for the last few weeks. But I don't think that number should be rolled into the "opening weekend" number because it's not opening weekend. They are already stretching it with opening films on Wednesdays.
At any rate, let's just pick a guideline for this stuff and stick to it so it's consistent.
