Similar things happening at the Canadian History Museum only this is the museum's response: ""There were no plans to resolve any problems uncovered in these verifications, including finding missing items," the auditor's report stated."

Also there are 15k items that are uncatalogued with no provenance which um... NOT GREAT.

Geez louise.

I mean there is obviously no leadership there and maybe a lack of personnel (people who do the actual jobs) but this is an embarrassment and depending on the items really disrespectful.

It's very disrespectful.

The Canadian history museum has a whole indigenous wing so yeah, I'm guessing a lot of those "uncatalogued, no provenance" items were stolen from Inuit and First Nations people and part of the lack of care is the museum not wanting to be like "Uhhh, we stole this AND have no intention of giving it back".

They have a fantastic jewelry collection. I don't know how much of it is stolen.

I was once in there looking at it when there was an announcement that there was a bomb threat and everyone was to go to the main lobby. So we went down there and they locked us in while they checked everyone's bags. I'm standing there thinking, waymint, if a bomb is going to go off, shouldn't you be doing this in the courtyard in front of the museum, not in the museum where the bomb is?

I hate being locked in anywhere so I was getting increasingly annoyed and the took about a half an hour before they unlocked the doors and let us leave. Seriously, who locks people in a building where they think a bomb has been planted?

There is the likelihood that something else happened that they need to clear the museum for, and nothing gets people moving faster than a bomb threat, but they also don't want you outside in case one of you does call the authorities/gets the world out.

Clearly I watch way too much movies, lol

I wouldn't automatically think they're this smart. I still remember having to shout off the Met police's heads for them to let people out of the underground - we were evacuating due to fire and these dummies stood at the entrance in a way that no one could get out of the building. Most people were proper Londoners so they didn't say a thing as the people behind us were piling up and a stampede was about to begin. I used all my white woman and alien privileges and told two officers to MOVE and that we were stuck inside cause of them. I was carried with the crowds as me shouting caused a mini exit route to appear right where was. So all the reaction I saw was the completely confused face of officers, a "how dare she" face before I got pushed away. I have an endless amount of "security/police being useless" stories from London, so I'm always triggered when it's implied they do sensibpe things ( ... )

" So all the reaction I saw was the completely confused face of officers, a "how dare she" face before I got pushed away. "

Not all heroes wear capes, LOL!

But blocking the entrance when people are trying to escape from a fire... ffs... I can see why you'd be triggered.

I always assumed bag checks were more for confiscating food than it is for weapons and drugs since they want you to buy things at the venue.
