Its not on the list, but I love that Andrew Lincoln's real last name is Clutterbuck

I'd call him Clutterbutt or Clusterfuck all the time.

That's my favorite lmao. It's the most British last name I've ever heard.

Amethyst Kelly would be a good name for the popstar Iggy originally intended to be

I honestly think Iggy would've made a decent popstar. She has good production in her music etc but instead the labels were dying for a white Nicki in 2014.

Some of these are name changes due to marriage or adoption, which isn't nearly as fun as the ones due to some old white dude telling a person to make their name sound either more or less "ethnic" (because you know that's how old white dudes word it).

My dad's government name was a result of bureaucratic mix-up, where his first name became his last name and vice-versa. It probably didn't help that in my culture our surnames are patronymic, which must've been the basis of the INS' confusion.

So anyway, he spent his entire adult life being legally called by his own father's (my grandfather's) first name in public. But in private, his family and friends still called him by his birth name.

The way I saw an actor try to explain it was they don't want to be pigeonholed into certain roles. That made me really sad because damn, society is really that racist. It's not even good enough to be white. Your last name can't sound too Italian or Greek.

that's why martin sheen said he changed his name from ramon estevez. his dad is a white spaniard from galicia and his mom is irish, but he was told that with that name, he'd be typecast.

he's done interviews with emilio where he tells him how proud he is of him because he chose to keep estevez

I remember for a time there was someone at Vulture (?) that was like MANICALLY obsessed with why and how Meghan started going by that vs. Rachel because she was named Rachel herself and felt insulted or something.

Meghan Markle has that nice alliterative assonance to it perfect for showbiz, so I can see why she went with it. Though Rachel is a pretty name too, Rachel Markle is more staid and unassuming.

Damn Lorde, your name wouldn't work on any kr government website. Saying this as a person with a long ass name who's spent more hours than I should have bashing my head into the keyboard because some name field and therefore authentication just would not work.
