Also, these studios didn't want to license their content out (with the exception of some smaller ones), like there's no Lionsgate TV+ or w/e) so they made their own streaming services.

Now wbd is licensing out shows to Netflix bc no one wants their service.

Everyone making their own streaming service was so shortsighted. They not only lose the money Netflix and Hulu gave them for their libraries - they're actively contributing to what is causing such a decline in theater attendance. They have well and truly fucked themselves.

I was meh on the movie theater experience long before, but covid really and truly killed any desire I have to ever sit in a theater again. it's already barbaric enough that I can't pause when I have to pee or can't smoke weed, other people's germs is just TOO FAR

The cost and lack of pause that kills it for me, tbh. For the cost of an outing to the theaters....I can own a physical copy of the bluray and still have money left over.
