So, so, so many of the comments on her original response/"apology" IG post were just regular old racist and fatphobic. So glad we're actually focusing on what really matters and what she actually did wrong. 😒

It feels like her stans will continue defending her and misuse a lot of social justice language to do it, and her haters will gleefully pile on and continue to completely miss the point. And nothing at all will be learned. I hate everything about this.

Yep I saw comments saying that they knew the body positivity movement was bullshit bc of the fat shaming Lizzo has been accused of, and it really pisses me off that one person’s actions are being used to invalidate a whole movement, especially since she didn’t “create” it. And no matter what horrific unrelated things people comment to Lizzo, it doesn’t take away any of the trauma the dancers experienced. Just piling more trauma on top of what has already transpired. Reminds me of what was being said about the founder of the BLM organization…the sentiments are still very real regardless of individuals who take advantage. This whole thing bums me out so much.

Is this 6 more people or 6 more complaints? It seems like the attorney is going to the press before filing anything but he seems to be saying complaints and not people. EDT: read the NBC article and it says at least 6 more people

She 100% created a hostile work environment and was completely inappropriate with her employees. The sexual harassment stuff from both her and the dance captain is bad.

this lawyer is sketchy and using the press to sensationalize things and there is an uncomfortable element there. The fat shaming outlined in the original complaint won’t stand up in any court anywhere and felt like it was added for the headlines vs added as an actual actionable item in court.

Yeah I read the whole NBC article. It says at least 6 new people have brought complaints to the lawyer that are being reviewed. Then he says some are actionable and some are not.

There is also a new quote he’s saying lizzo said about dancers getting fired for being fat.

“It accuses Lizzo of calling out the dancer’s weight after an appearance at the South by Southwest music festival. In a meeting with all of the dancers this year, Lizzo allegedly said it was “normal” for them to get “fired when they get fat,” Zambrano said this week.”

In the orginal claim the fat shaming was she said “x” but I felt like that was really fat shaming.

yeah this is what is annoying to me. it was the vaguest of all the claims but it was in all the headlines so everyone online is jumping at the chance to delegitimatize body positive in general because of it
