Slightly silly high concept episodes are some of my favorite Trek episodes!!

I love musicals so I was excited about this, but due to some of the bad musical episodes I have seen (the Seventh Heaven one was a million years ago and I still remember how bad it was), I was cautiously optimistic.
Thankfully the cast has a lot of good singers and the songs had some lovely melodies. I really enjoyed this episode!

The Klingons!!! I fucking died. 😭 They could not have made a better choice with that.
La'an's line about wanting to tell Jim before it ended up coming out as a 17th century sea shanty. 😭
Chapel's song was probably my favorite overall. That shit slapped.
Celia's voice is so gorgeous! And I loved the very beginning where she was handling the comms like a conductor would an orchestra.
La'an increasing willingness to open herself up and risk heartbreak vs Spock becoming more closed off and Vulcanesque as a result of his heartbreak.
Carol Kane & Anson Mount's little dance together at the end was so freaking cute.
The one thing that read a little off was Carol's line suggesting that Uhura use music as a language to communicate, like we already had an episode last season with her doing exactly that.
pregnant Carol Marcus reference!

I know someone who went to high school with Rebecca Romijn and they said she was in a bunch of musicals then. I'm surprised that she hasn't been on Broadway (especially considering how many celebs have done stints in Broadway musicals).
