Getting ready to have my second kid, and I've definitely been emotional about how my body has changed even more since my last. I still remember comments from my MIL "Breastfeed and those pounds will drop off!" (I wasn't able to because of a traumatic birth) or my mother asking if I'd like a Jenny Craig subscription a couple months postpartum.

I'm trying to love what will inevitably be my new body and normal, but it's difficult and emotional when mother's are bombarded with comments about their weight and getting back to their pre-pregnancy weight days, and are seen as failures or lazy if they don't or can't. It's hard.

omg I’m so sorry you had to listen to that! You made a whole human and somehow it’s still not enough??
I understand when moms themselves want to make changes to feel like their body belongs to them again but everyone else needs to shut the fuck up. I’m still shocked that y’all don’t get pelvic floor therapy after birth in the US too, how about your moms book you some of that instead of Jenny Craig 😭

I so understand this. My body dysmorphia is so high, especially due to weight gain and lack of opportunity to exercise as primary parent. Who has time without a support system?

I also couldn't breastfeed and that loops into your head, too.

This is a good attitude to have. New moms have so much to do/worry about let alone bashing themselves for not looking like they did before carrying a full on human.

Holding off in buying new clothes until I'm fully weaned (hopefully this month!) Then finally doing a closet purge. I'm sad that I'm going to have to throw out most of my pants and I don't think any of my dresses survived my expanding hips and ribcage. I've barely worn them too since they're special occasion dresses. Or that really nice coat. I was stupid and bought everything on the smaller size ( ... )

Why are people so intent on policing other people's bodies? Pay attention to your own shit instead!

I've learnt to deflect with my mom by sticking 'the doctor said x' and she would shut up about it.

Oh, the other daycare lady also commented on it too. I forgot they're separate incidents. Such a gossipy bunch.

It makes sense I hate wearing shorts and always worn baggy sweater growing up. I had no figure already so I don't need people commenting on it!!

OMG I JUST REMEMBER, the maternity clinic lady said I was so skinny too during my pregnancy and the postpartum checkup. YOU THINK THINK THEY KNOW BETTER.

how much seam allowance is there left on your favourite items? if you have particular favourites even minnor seam adjustments can make a big difference and you get to keep your favourite clothes.
