Neil said in his tumblr that the first episode, and the last 15 pages of the final episode of Season 3 were done before he had to stop because of the strike. The sets are even still up, they have not been broken down yet because they were waiting to hear if S3 will be greenlit.

Okay so I have thoughts and feelings. Mostly I loved it. Please give us a third season please my heart can’t take it if it ends there.

However. The pacing was awful. The whole zombie plot was a waste of time. I adore the flashback sequences, but the fact that they left us with so little time for present day plot was poorly planned. While we do mostly watch for the chemistry, what’s the point of watching lead up if we don’t get to see payoff? I wish they’d worked on the balance a little more, I’d have liked to get some actual substantial A plot.

Also, was anyone else annoyed that Beelzebub was a lot more feminine and a lot less gross now that they were a romantic interest?

the zombie plot onnly happened cos they got Jeremy Dyson on to write that episode so they of course had to get ALL the league of gentleman together for a one off cos ths show loves its little nods to other stuff.

oh im glad its not me that was like "its a bit sus they recast beelzebub as someonne conventionally attractive to be a love interest this time"

God the pacing was horrible, like the editors could not for the life of them work out when to cut away from a scene and when to let it breathe. It was a problem in s1 but was way more glaring this time around.

I thought the same re: Beelzebub, which is part of the reason I called the ~twist~ right away lol like I get that they had to recast for scheduling conflicts but they made zero effort to make her look anywhere near as fucked up as the first B. She just looked like she had walked out of a steampunk convention and maybe caught something from giving a stranger a blowjob in the bathroom.

Honestly the only pacing I thought needed work and definitely suffered from the season having too few episodes for the amount of things going on was for the Nina and Maggie plotline. It felt super rushed ALTHOUGH they did really well in incorporating the "rushing" into the story when they spoke with Crowley and Nina said what she said. Not even sure that was planned but it worked.
