I mean, not really? Based on my experience with rich people, they're the ones who make it uncomfortable bc they're so fucking stingy with money. Money you have to pay back creates a different dynamic than money you donate, especially if it's for something as serious as health. I would just make the donation, say I won't take no for an answer & drop the subject altogether so the person on the receiving end wouldn't feel some sort of social obligation to show eternal gratitude.

Yeah if her friend is having a GoFundMe for desperately needed medical bills, then I don’t see why it would be weird for her rich clients to also donate and help out, if anything Meghan’s excuse sounds more like something that rich people are the ones telling themselves about how that would only create an awkward dynamic between them

Personally I would not feel right sharing the link and asking other people to give something if I hadn’t donated myself, so I’m not surprised that people are questioning it.

That and look, I love my dog and all animals but when I see gofundmes for pets I cannot. Like you shouldn’t have gotten the dog if you can’t pay for the vet, for something big or small. A family friend’s adult child, who’s upper middle class had a Gofundme for a couple of thousand dollars because their puppy got parvo. Another one I saw was for a client’s cat who broke a bone…like…

Financial situations change. Someone could go from easily being able to afford everything to struggling to find enough to pay their bills.

the backlash to this is stupid and i'm shocked ontd is taking the bait. she's right. this does change a dynamic in relationships and she's following her wishes here. that's a lot of money to ask for, and even good friendships can get ruined over money. we're also seeing right now during a strike that actors and all aren't paid as much as we think.

the people you should be angry at is the healthcare system where even a manicurist to rich people can't afford to help her ill parent.

No. While the healthcare system here is trash, if the woman personally asked Fox to share the link to her fans Fox should’ve had the ~emotional intelligence~ to realize that if her manicurist can’t afford bills, then other people (who probably make less money) can’t afford to contribute their hard earned money to a stranger. Share this within your rich group of celebs and that cost would be covered fast… if they weren’t stingy assholes.
