My mother would want me to keep it cute, so I’m just going to say that’s terrible and I would not wish that, or being so lacking in support/trust in others to want to bare it alone, on anyone

I’ll keep my specific thoughts about her to myself. This time.

MTE exactly. Thank you for realizing that having empathy for someone doesn't mean co-signing everything that person does.

Like. I’m not going to pretend I didn’t have uncharitable thoughts (I’m only human!) but I also don’t think fertility issues should be brandished as karma or a punishment, just like babies shouldn’t be a punishment for sex. Whatever I think of her, this is sad and I’m sure it was painful and disheartening.

But whooo, my knee jerk thoughts! 🙃 I hope to get to a place where I don’t go to an ugly place off jump, for my own mental well-being.

God that's terrible. I didn't talk about mine either for basically the same reason. Also people didn't know we were trying and if it didn't work I didn't want to give the grandparents fodder for bugging us.

I'm glad she's talking about it. Her talking about her miscarriages and wanting to be quiet about it reminds me of a PBS documentary where it was talking about Black women and how we're expected to have kids by well-meaning families but we can't "complain" or talk about the stuff it takes to get pregnant and keep a pregnancy. Not to mention white privilege and having to be an in-other when it comes to fertility spaces.

Also, want to mention that this is my opinion and not the opinion of the PBS station that I work for as a Master Control Operator.

Anyway, here's part of the Nova special.

I feel compassion and empathy for her. I was made to feel bad this weekend because my younger cousin was having a baby and I didn’t have one yet and I’m the oldest. Most of my family doesn’t know I suffer from PCOS and the one time I was pregnant I had a miscarriage, so their words were really like knives.

That's awful that she has gone through that, but considering the accusations against her for child sexual abuse, I'm not sure she needs to be adopting kids either tbh
