why are they doing this to me lmao. I am one of those people who like to watch every sequel/prequel/spinoff of stuff I've already started and I can't even finish the last season of original TWD, not even put on in the background. Watch them spend a bunch of seasons puttering around getting continuously separated and never explain anything. How did they get Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira to agree to this????

Covid. AL was always open to returning. On the exact day his character left the original series, it was announced that there would be 3 Rick movies. But those movies never came to fruition(after years of empty promises) and then the pandemic hit and the landscape changed again.
DG was never attached to any of the movies and after leaving the original series, she had so many new and interesting projects lined up and high in demand. But then the pandemic hit and unfortunately, most of those projects were lost and that freed her up.
I’m glad they at least are smart enough to keep it a limited series and are just closing out their stories. DG deserves to be free of this (imo).
I am surprised TWD managed to have 3 or 4 spin offs. I don't even remember when I stopped the main show (all I remember is that at one point I realized their was no narrative ending and I got bored)

I don’t see why they wouldn’t. Neither of them are high profile elsewhere and Andrew regretted leaving when he did.
