Were the RHOBH cameras rolling to capture this for her “redemption arc”?
Look I don’t blame her for everything her husband did, but she directly benefited from all of this and her initial reactions to all of this left a lot to be desired.

Pretty much this. Even during last season she failed to show any real empathy, was always on the offensive when anyone pointed that out, and it was very much "look at MY life." Now all of a sudden she's meeting with victims? Come on now.
Agreed. I can totally believe Tom kept her in the dark about all of this, but I could also see Erika being ambivalent and care free as long as she had cash to spend.
As soon as the story broke, she got extremely defensive and stayed that way for a long time. And while I could understand her not being able to go into details on camera due to pending litigation - there’s no reason why she couldn’t show some empathy. Instead she made it all about her … “what about me?!” Oh we’re supposed to feel for you because you had to downsize? Her apartment still likely costs more than the average person’s rent. And she still somehow managed to afford a glam squad.
It’s whatever. But trying to get us to feel bad for her when she couldn’t even express the bare minimum of empathy for those victims really was telling. So I won’t blame anymore for thinking this is another PR thing for her.
