I know I read the book but I don’t recall any of it other than the violence against women, which some internet bro tried to tell me “was super normal back then cause they’re vikings.”

Yeah I watched The Last Kingdom and fans started calling Uhtred “reaper dick” because any woman he had sex with died. Something’s up with that author.

i'm sure the books are interesting...but the show...idk. i'm kinda bored with the story of king arthur as told in movies/tv now.

I haven't watched the trailer yet but the thing that gets me about the Warlord Chronicles is that they're not written with Arthur as the protagonist!!! It's another guy that Cornwall made up, and having that slight remove (as well as an attempt at historic accuracy - there's no real magic in the books, it's all just tricks) makes it an interesting take on the Arthurian mythos. I get why they would want to make it Arthur in the show for name recognition but also....why dismantle the central plot of the series you're adapting???

Anyway, the books are good (with a caveat about the violence against women....and also my least favorite version of Lancelot basically ever) if you like historical fiction

It could be decent since it's based on a Bernard Cornwell trilogy (though I've not read these books I am familiar with his Uthred work and like it well enough). I hope this series leans into Cornish culture and history when retelling this familiar tale.

Probably nothing Arthurian legend-wise will top Mists of Avalon for me, though I really *would* like it if something did because I can't enjoy that series anymore (what with MZB being a rapist).

I loved the mist of Avalon when I first read it as a kid, but then I re-read it as an adult and there were SO MANY red flags and scenes that made me highly uncomfortable

Omg my copy of Mists of Avalon is falling apart, i carried that thing with me everywhere when I was in my 20's! When I learned about MZB I was pretty heartbroken.

I just started (literally one chapter in) Morgan is my Name, and I'm hoping for something similar. Fingers crossed 🤞
