I too one day wish to live on a planet of Delusion. Seems like such a wonderful place to live in. So many opportunities just based on one's skill. Can you imagine?

I laughed so fucking hard, I almost choked to death on a peanut.

This is becoming a hazard for me.

I still don’t understand why this is seen as such a bad thing. Is that a cultural thing I don’t understand? Like obviously I would use my connections if I had any. Would be silly not to. Just like you basically need to know someone already working at Daimler to even be invited for an interview.

What I do hate is when they do not acknowledge the privilege like Kendall Jenner being like „I became a model all on my own!“ like F off

I think the annoyance it twofold - lack of skills and naive ignorance of their leg up.
Acting/singing/modeling require a base amount of skills a lot of these nepo babies just don't have, yet they get roles based off of connections and marketability when other more talented people can't get their foot in the door because they lack the industry connections.
The other reason being that so many of them insist that their industry connections and the pull of their parents were not the reason they got jobs and that their start was just as hard as everyone else's - and if they acknowledge their nepo baby privilege they emphasize that they have the ~skill~ because that is something people who truly have a skill need to repeat often.

If all nepo babies acknowledged their privilege, the conversation around it would cool down.

I wish people had as much energy about faouritism in the workplace lol I'm barely 30 and i'm tired as fuck to see people that shouldn't be named boss actually get the job every. single. fucking. time. just because their main skills is to be buddy-buddy with the higher-ups

Right. In the real world I've never seen someone leaning heavily on ~connections actually be talented.

The amount of white men I see in educational leadership who are experienced educators because they taught English in Europe for a year explains a lot about the state of education in the US tbh.

what she says makes sense and is totally reasonable within its own nepo context, idk why people here are getting salty about it like she lied
