Wall Street and executive greed are finally doing to the entertainment business what they've already done to pretty much every other sector of American business.

This is why people don't want to work anymore.

All these corporations and money hoarding board members only see employees as tools. That's why they're such big advocates of AI. They're just replacing one tool with a more "efficient" one that doesn't complain.

Killing these shows is like mass layoffs to boost stock prices that the equity firms love to do.

I know ppl were clowning on it but I liked Rise of the Pink Ladies. the cast was mega talented, the musical numbers were genuinely the best I’ve seen on any tv show since the heyday of Glee and honestly it was better than a lot of 2010s movie musicals.

it’s very sad for the cast and crew too who genuinely loved the show and poured so much time and energy into it and to just have it removed after what? THREE MONTHS of it being available is just so insulting. they didn’t even give it any time to grow

I enjoyed it! The songs weren’t as good as they could have been but that was the writing and not the performances- the cast was great. You could see how good they were from the beginning with their remake of Grease is the word.

i'm furious. i loved the show, i liked what it was trying to do and i tuned in to hate and was immediately happily surprised at how good it was. i'm so fucking mad it's going to just disappear.

zaslav really opened the floodgates with this "erase shows from streaming asap" bullshit and i hate it. it must be such a slap in the face to everyone who worked on these shows to not only get the cancellation news but to also find out it's about to be scrubbed right after too.

I want to punch him in the face. I can't believe he's destroying TCM.

I keep hoping one day I'll come to ONTD and see a party post that he's leaving.

How quickly we went from the Golden Age of TV to the Golden Age of tax writeoffs.

I wanted to love Rise of the Pink Ladies but I just couldn't get into it. Idk if it was the style of the musical numbers or just the way it didn't seem to understand what it wanted to be--authentically Grease prequel? Re-imagining of the Grease universe? etc.

But the fact that they're wiping the show from the service is nasty. This is the stuff that pisses me off. It used to be a show got cancelled, you got the DVDs and could relive it there, at least. Now they erase them from existence. Yes I know about pirating but it's not the same.

Also I wonder if they'll also wipe the soundtrack off Spotify and music streaming to avoid paying residuals that way, too.
