Sebastian Stan also had an early arc as Mad Hatter (and was one of the better actors tbh) and bounced right out and never spoke of it again lol.

Yeah, I'd long since checked out of the show by the time that happened. I swear, the only good Ursula portrayals have been Karen Black, Pat Carroll, and Queen Latifah.

And now - I demand a fleet of professional, heavy set drag queens doing a freaking Live Aid scale "Part of Your World" because THEY should finally get to explore that world up above to play the role that has been meant for them since 1989

Excuse you! Merrin Dungey is incredible. If you don't take it back, she might just realize that you don't like coffee flavored ice-cream.

This doesn't make things more clear.

It was a joke with a reference to a famous scene from ALIAS.

Edit: This scene. Iconic.

Season 4’s Ursula must have been the inspiration for Teresa’s wedding hair on RHONJ.

I checked out of this show after season 1 but sorry OP I think these are actually really interesting twists/adaptations on the Little Mermaid LOL. Granted I only saw relevant clip moments on youtube vs. the whole episodes but isolated I think it works ( ... )

I agree some of the changes are interesting such the ball but leave Ariels story to herself along with Ursula being her villain.

The Real Ursula is interested enough that she doesn't need to rip off Ariels storyline. The show loved a good connection so exploring the wicked Aunt trying to end her niece goes well with the evil queen trying to kill snow-white.

oh for sure. I like that the new movie having Ursula lean into the estranged aunt connection to manipulate Ariel as well. She states Triton is older but I think it would've been interesting for them to be twins and maybe he's just the older one? My one real critique of the movie is that we don't get a super lot of time with Ariel's family and seeing the dynamics on screen.

I know about it because I read the chapter book but that was also set a few years before the movie and I would've loved even just one scene with all the sisters hanging out together properly or even a small one of the sibling dynamic from Triton's side, IDK. In the reading material it states how Ursula is directly responsible for killing their mom due to her shenanigans with the humans and that would've been interesting to add as a layer but the movie is still INCREDIBLE.

I agree. Why come up with all this interesting material only to leave it off screen!?
