Is it just me or has there not been as much media coverage on this lately? (Truly wondering because I don’t live in the US anymore and my main sources of western news are NPR, BBC, and until the strike, late night talk shows)

If it's not fixed within ten minutes, it won't get ongoing attention until it's done/completed.

I'm not sure it ever got a ton of media coverage. The reasons I'm still keeping up is because a) it's important and b) Deadline reports on it daily and people on social media keep up with posts.

Like cnn, who is owned by Warner discovery, I can't say I've heard them say shit.

Maybe people haven't noticed as much because it's happening as a lot of shows have wrapped up as opposed to the last big one, which iirc, happened in the middle of seasons. and streaming wasnt as big of a thing.

I'm a copywriter and honestly I have no confidence that I'll have a job in a couple of years.

My coworkers, who are otherwise great people, keep going, "Oh I'll just ChatGPT that!"

The deadest of dead horses that I keep pummeling is that it would still be so much easier to do their jobs -- ie. "run the numbers/interpret the numbers" -- via some kind of AI-driven app, yet for some reason we're attacking the far more subjective arts first.

legit i used ChatGPT to refine a colleague's code when he wouldn't stop shutting up about how my students don't need to write essays anymore. ChatGPT cannot produce a strong critical essay, but it sure as shit can automate a lot of STEM research

I suspect they won't be able to keep that capability a secret for much longer. It feels like the arts/writing stuff is almost an intentional smokescreen to stall.
