I kind of get the point about not wanting to reveal who he was to Star Trek noobs (in the vein of Marion Cotiard not being Thalia Al Ghul when she clearly was Thalia), but it was all handled completely wrong. It could have been dealt with in many other ways.

Also the underwear scene was so gratuitous and unnecessary.

That said, I did enjoy this film as a mindless blockbuster.

That movie gutted any interest I still had in Abrams Trek. It just wasn't really salvageable for me.
