Quinta’s a WGA member though? i get that it’s nice that she’s picketing but the phrasing is like she isn’t striking too lol

people were trying to come for her saying it's her fault the Abbot writers aren't being paid enough just because she's the showrunner so most people on the internet really don't know anything about the industry but looove to chime in about it

Maybe I am giving US labor laws too much credit but since writers are obviously in a union, are they at least somewhat save from being fired or never asked to come back to the writers room after the strike? Like in my mind I can totally picture those studios eventually being like „fine, here is your money, now deal with half the amount of writers that u usually would have with twice the work load 😊“

they don’t have to be directly fired, the studios can just use “budget reasons” as the justification to cancel the shows that they’re working on…they’re contract workers

If it's at least a little bit similar to Germany they definitely can't be fired from currents contracts because of the strike. Technically I am sure studios could try and stop hiring union writers but I don't think that would get them anywhere since so many writers thankfully are in it.

Also it's a big deal that most studios have an 8wk force majeure clause. There have been articles about studios waiting to take advantage of it

Quinta’s a writer, and tbh I thought Pete was too? Like he obvs acts but I thought he also wrote for SNL, his own show, etc.

lol yep

glad that they’re there, but the narrative that they’re overly philanthropic actors just helping out the poor writers is false when they’re both guild members also obligated to be there
