They appear to have given Chani a personality, that’s very unfaithful to the source material.

Aww, it’s not Chani’s fault that Frank Herbert never gave her a POV chapter. I remember being exasperated at a part where Paul was daydreaming/hallucinating/meditating, and Chani was off-page [book spoiler] killing someone who wanted to duel Paul, and joking about it. That would have been interesting to read in more detail.
