I'm sure someone will explain why I'm wrong, which I welcome!, but it's so odd to see Jeremy Strong go this hard for a part where it feels like he's as much left out of the loop/not getting the joke as Kendall.

Like I truly do not think this man knows he's in a comedy.

Kendall is 100% the straight man in this comedy so if the actor playing Kendall doesn't fully get it, that might actually be beneficial.

I've also seen interviews where it seems like Jesse Armstrong feeds actors what he needs them to believe, for example assuring Brian Cox that Logan deeply loves his children and everything he does is for them despite very obviously being an abusive, narcissistic parent to the audience, so that maybe that plays into it as well.
